Trojans Fall to Lenoir-Rhyne in Series Finale

HICKORY, N.C. – The Anderson baseball team recorded 10 hits, but just one for extra bases, as the Trojans fell, 14-2, to Lenoir-Rhyne in South Atlantic Conference baseball action, Monday night at Bears Field.

Anderson slipped to 8-8 overall and 2-4 in conference play, while Lenoir-Rhyne improved to 7-11 and 1-5.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Senior Bandon Odachowski was 3-for-4, while sophomore Will O'Brien was 2-for-3 with a walk and classmate Will Lindsey was 2-for-4. Redshirt sophomore Chandler Castleberry notched a third-inning double.

Senior Matthew Stanley (2-1) absorbed the loss after surrendering six runs on six hits, while walking one and striking out one in 2 1/3 innings of work on the mound.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Trojans loaded the bases and struck first with a solo run in the top of the second frame when sophomore Trevor Weisner bounced out to the right side of the infield with two outs to bring home Odachowski, who had led off the inning with a single.

But the Bears matched AU with a solo run in the bottom of the inning, while the Trojans regained a brief, 2-1, lead when Lindsey led off the third inning with a single and scored on Castleberry's double to the gap in left-center.

The lead was short-lived, however, as Lenoir-Rhyne posted seven runs in the bottom of the third and added another run in the fourth to build a 9-2 lead. Lenoir-Rhyne tacked on two more in the fifth inning and three more in the seventh to claim a 14-2 advantage.
