Miller, Todd and Strange Named to All-Tournament Team

ROCK HILL, S.C. – At the conclusion of the 2018 Pilot/Flying J South Atlantic Conference Baseball Championship, senior Tyler Miller, sophomore Austin Todd and junior Jackson Strange were named to the All-Tournament Team, as announced by the conference office, Tuesday afternoon.

Lincoln Memorial's Ethan Elliott was tabbed the Championship MVP, while the top four teams in the SAC Championship's head coaches also selected a 15-member All-Tournament Team.

Elliott, a junior from Knoxville, Tenn., went 2-0 on the mound for the Railsplitters during the tournament, including earning the win in relief during the championship game on Monday night. He allowed just two earned runs on nine hits with eight strikeouts in 10 innings of work. He also posted a 1.80 ERA and held opponents to a .237 batting average.

Lincoln Memorial led the way with seven players on the All-Tournament Team, followed by Catawba with four players on the squad. Anderson had Miller, Todd and Strange, with Carson-Newman rounding out the All-Tournament team with one player.

Miller led the Trojans offensively, as the shortstop went 8-for-19 (.421) at the plate, with a double and also drew five walks over the five-game span. The Anderson, S.C., native was 3-for-4 in last Thursday's tourney-opening win over Lenoir-Rhyne, with three singles and also reached on a pair of walks. He scored four runs and drove in three runs versus the Bears. Miller scored the tying run in Sunday's win over Tusculum that sent the contest into extra innings.

Todd tossed a complete-game, three-hit gem to help lead the eighth-seeded Trojans to a 4-1 upset of top-seeded Catawba. The right-hander finished the season with a team-leading five victories by recording AU's third complete game of the season and posted AU's second straight stellar effort on the mound. The native of Pelzer, S.C., native had a perfect game through 7 2/3 innings and flirted with a shutout until the Indians plated an unearned run in the ninth inning. He surrendered three hits over the final two innings, while striking out five batters on the day and did not issue a walk.

Strange started all five games at the hot corner and batted .350 (7-for-20), while notching three doubles and a pair of home runs for an impressive .800 slugging percentage during the tournament. A native of Greenville, S.C., Strange drove in six runs and scored five runs to help lead AU to its deepest run in the SAC Tournament in program history. He was 3-for-5, with a three-run homer and a pair of doubles in the rout of Lenoir-Rhyne and sparked a four-run eighth inning with a leadoff double in the upset of Catawba.
