ANDERSON, S.C. – Young Harris snapped a tie game with a six-run eighth inning, as the Mountain Lions defeated Anderson, 11-5, in nonconference baseball action, Wednesday night at Memorial Stadium.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Junior Brandon Odachowski notched two of the Trojans' eight hits on the night, with a run-scoring double in the second inning and an eighth-inning single. Redshirt freshman Chandler Castleberry added a single and also reached on a ninth-inning walk, while sophomore Matthew Overton was 1-for-4, with a single and a walk.
Freshman Justin Helms (0-1) took the loss after surrendering six runs on six hits, while striking out one and walking two in an inning of relief.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Young Harris capitalized on three singles to plate two runs in the top of the first inning, while AU's Jackson Strange singled with two outs in the second and cut the Mountain Lions' lead in half by scoring on Odachowski's double to the gap in right-center.
Young Harris opened a 3-1 lead with another run in the third, with AU responding by scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame to knot the score at three apiece. The Mountain Lions added two more runs in the fifth, but the Trojans again evened the score with two in the sixth.
After a scoreless seventh inning, Young Harris sent 11 batters to the plate and scored six runs, including three with two outs, to break the game open.
