Trojans Drop Series Opener at Lincoln Memorial

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Anderson University baseball team dropped a 15-1 decision to Lincoln Memorial in the opening contest of a three-game South Atlantic Conference series, Friday afternoon Lamar Hennon Park.

Anderson fell to 4-10 overall and 1-3 in conference play with its third consecutive setback, while Lincoln Memorial improved to 11-5 overall and 1-3 in the league.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Senior Tyler Miller was 2-for-4, with a pair of singles and drove in the Trojans' lone run, while classmate William Thomas also notched a pair of singles. Junior Jackson Strange added a double and a walk, with sophomore Alex Medlin going for 1-for-3 with an eighth-inning single.

Sophomore John McMicking (0-1) absorbed the setback after allowing eight runs on seven hits in 1 1/3 innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first inning for both squads, the Railsplitters erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the second inning, while adding three more runs in the fourth frame and four in the seventh.

The Trojans avoided the shutout when Medlin singled with one out in the top of the eighth and crossed the plate on Miller's single to right field.

UP NEXT
Anderson and Lincoln Memorial will wrap up the series with a Saturday afternoon doubleheader, which is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
