Trojans Fall at Home to North Georgia

ANDERSON, S.C. – Freshman Joseph Strange and junior Tyler Miller combined for four hits on the afternoon, but the Anderson University baseball team concluded its two-game nonconference homestand with a 7-1 loss to North Georgia, Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.

Anderson fell to 5-15 with the setback, while North Georgia improved to 13-4 with its third straight win and seventh victory in eight games.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Strange posted his fourth multiple-hit game of the season with a pair of singles in three at-bats, while Miller notched his sixth multi-hit game by going 2-for-4, with two singles. Senior Stephen McKnight belted his first home run of the season in the eighth inning.

Senior Thomas Smith (0-2) absorbed the loss after allowing four runs on six hits in five full innings of work on the mound. The right-hander struck out two Nighthawks and walked one.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Nighthawks scored a run in each of the first two innings and added two more in the top of the third inning to claim a 4-0 lead, while scoring a solo run in the sixth frame and two more in the seventh inning to build a seven-run cushion.

The Trojans threatened by getting a pair of runners in scoring position with one out in the bottom of the sixth, but were unable to capitalize, while avoiding the shutout when McKnight led off the eighth inning by lifting his home run beyond the fence in right field.
