Baseball Falls at No. 21 USC Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. -- Playing its fifth game in three days, the Anderson baseball team dropped a 9-0 non-conference decision to No. 21 USC Aiken Wednesday afternoon at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. The Trojans (6-4) have won three of their last five, while the Pacers claimed their second consecutive win and improved to 3-5 on the season. Anderson third baseman Blake May stretched his hitting streak to three games with a two-out single in the top of the second inning, but the Trojans were unable to push a run across, while the Pacers plated two runs in the bottom of the frame behind four consecutive one-out singles. The Trojans threatened in the third when center fielder Derek Hipp reached on an error by the Pacers second baseman and stole second, but was stranded, while USC Aiken added two more runs in the third on a bases-loaded two-out single to center. Senior right-hander David Richardson pitched four complete innings for the Trojans and absorbed the loss, falling to 0-1 on the season. Anderson gets back into action this weekend when the Trojans visit preseason Conference Carolinas favorite Mount Olive for a three-game series. First-pitch for the series-opening doubleheader is slated for Noon on Saturday. Box Score Season Statistics
