Lander Ends AU Winning Streak At Four

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Lander banged out 11 hits on its way to a 12-2 victory over Anderson University in a non-conference game Tuesday night at Anderson Memorial Stadium. Lander scored an unearned run in the second inning and another two more runs in fourth inning, highlighted by an RBI single by Malcolm McLeod for a 3-0 lead. Anderson notched one run in the fourth inning when Blair Carson scored on a sacrifice fly by Andrew Davis to cut the lead to 3-1. The big inning for the Bearcats came in the seventh when they sent 11 batters to the plate and scored seven runs to extend their lead to 11-2. The big hit in the inning was a two-run double by McLeod. The Bearcats added one more run on a solo home run by Brooks Arnette to make it 12-2. David Richardson took the loss for the Trojans, while Derek Whaley earned the win. Anderson was led by Andrew Davis, who was 2-for-2 with two doubles, and Carson, who was 2-for-4. McLeod led the Bearcat offense by going 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Lander is now 17-22, while Anderson falls to 16-32. Anderson will host Erskine tomorrow at 6 p.m. at Anderson Memorial Stadium.
