Lewis, Nye Lead Anderson Past Limestone

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Kyle Lewis and Cody Nye both were 4-for-4 with two RBI to lead Anderson University to an 8-5 victory over Limestone College in a non-conference game Monday night at Anderson Memorial Stadium. Anderson, 16-23 overall, won its fourth game in its last five outings. The loss drops Limestone to 14-18. Anderson used a three-run third to jump out to a 4-0 lead. Lewis had an RBI single and Nye had a two-run triple in the inning. Lewis and Nye collected eight of Anderson's 13 hits. The Saints got three runs back in the fourth. The big hit in the inning was a run-scoring double by Joey Asis. Leading 6-5, the Trojans got two insurance runs in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Don Bllard and a run-scoring single by Creg Green. Cory Welch allowed six hits and struck out four in six innings to pick up first collegiate victory. Brandon Johnson pitched the ninth for the Trojans to earn his fifth save. Limestone finished the game with eight hits. Taylor Cook and Paul Pesca both had two hits in four trips for the Saints.
