Whitfield Named Assistant Baseball Coach

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Jeff Whitfield has been named assistant baseball coach at Anderson College, AC head coach Joe Miller announced Thursday afternoon. Whitfield graduated from Lander in 2003 with a B.S. degree in exercise science. He has his teacher certification in physical education. At Lander, Whitfield was captain of the baseball team and a member of the cheerleading squad. Whitfield is a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School, and his older brother Robbie played baseball for Anderson College. Whitfield has been a personal trainer and a volunteer for Senior Olympics, Special Olympics, and the American Heart Association Walk. Last summer, Whitfield played for the Yuma Scorpions in the Golden Baseball League, an independent league, in Arizona. He plans to return to the league next summer.
