Beville Cup Sponsored By ARAMARK

In order to promote and enhance the rivalry between Anderson University and Erskine College, the Anderson-Erskine Cup Sponsored By ARAMARK was established in the fall of 2003.

Each academic year, each sport will be worth one point, while baseball and softball will be worth one-half point per contest. Additionally, 1.5 points will be awarded to the school with the highest graduation rate and 1.0 point will be awarded the school with the highest percentage of its student-athletes (in the 13 selected sports) named Conference All-Academic.

Within each sport, the team winning the most head-to-head meetings during the season will win the point. In cross country the finish in the Southeast Region Championship will determine the points. Both men’s and women’s golf will be determined by a dual tournament. If head-to-head meetings are tied, each school divide the points evenly.

There will be a total of 15.5 points available, so the team that claims at least eight points will win the Cup. (Note that Erskine will not sponsor men's cross country or men's tennis in 2019-20, so the total point value for the 2019-20 academic year will be 13.5)

In the past, tie scores were broken by:
... the school winning the most head-to-head regular-season games with the Regional Championship used for cross country; if tie remains then
... the school winning the most head-to-head post-season games; if the tie remains then
... a cook off between the ARAMARK staffs at Anderson and Erskine

The Anderson-Erskine Cup was changed to the ‘Beville Cup” in the spring of 2007 in honor of Bobby and Susie Beville. Susie Beville was a graduate of Anderson College and Erskine College, where she played softball. Susie Beville passed away in the summer of 2004. Her husband Bobby played baseball both at AU and Erskine and went on to serve as baseball coach at Anderson before becoming the athletics director for 10 years. He left AU in 2007 to work for the Anderson City Parks and Recreation Department.

In 2008, the Beville family announced the school that wins the Cup will receive a $1,000 donation and an additional donation has been committed by the Cobb Oxford family.

The Beville Cup Sponsored By ARAMARK will be awarded to the winning school during the school’s spring athletic banquet and will remain with the winning school for one year.
