131 Trojan Student-Athletes Named to SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll

ROCK HILL, S.C. – A record 1,736 student-athletes, including 131 Anderson University student-athletes, spanning each of the South Atlantic Conference's 11 member institutions and 20 sports, have been named to the 2018-19 SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll. The overall number of honorees represents an increase of 26 student-athletes from last year's list, as announced by the league office, Monday morning.

To be eligible for inclusion on the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, student-athletes must have competed in a sponsored championship sport and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher throughout the academic year.

"We are honored to recognize the outstanding academic accomplishments of our student-athletes," said SAC Commissioner Patrick Britz. "Along with the help of our coaches and administrators, they continue to strive for excellence on the playing field and court, as well as in the classroom, and we are extremely proud of their hard work and dedication."

The number of Trojan student-athletes earning the honor has increased each year since Anderson joined the conference in 2010-11 and this year's total was no exception. The Trojan women's soccer team featured 21 players on the list – an increase of more than 31 percent over last year, with the baseball team placing 20 student-athletes on the honor roll. Men's soccer and volleyball had 13 and 12 players, respectively, named to the honor roll, with women's cross country and track & field, along with softball, seeing 11 squad members named to the prestigious list.

Among the Trojan honorees was a trio of Academic All-America honorees in Emily Conlin (Volleyball), Alexy Mollenhauer (Women's Basketball) and Kasey Grant (Softball), alongside three SAC Elite 20 Award winners (Cassie Ketchum, Kasey Grant and Abigail Bozarth). The Elite 20 Award is given to the student-athlete with the top cumulative grade-point average at the final site of each of the league's 20 team championship sports.

Mollenhauer was also named as the SAC Scholar-Athlete for women's basketball.

Among the honorees were 131 student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA, in addition to 10 SAC Players of the Year and six SAC Freshmen of the Year from 2018-19:
