ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University women's basketball junior Alexy Mollenhauer and men's basketball senior guard Gage Ellis have been named to the Anderson Federal Credit Union Gold Standard for their outstanding performances in the month of November.
Mollenhauer averaged a team-high 20.1 points and 13.7 rebounds per game while recording six double-doubles in seven games during the month. The Lindale, Texas native was 51-of-99 (51.5 percent) from the field and 22-of-48 (45.8 percent) from behind the arc while averaging 74 percent from the free throw line.
She is first in the South Atlantic Conference in points and rebounds, reaching double-digit scoring in all seven contests, including a season-high 25 points in the home win over nonconference rival Erskine. For her efforts, Mollenhauer has earned SAC AstroTurf Women's Basketball Player of the Week twice.
The junior forward is currently ranked in several NCAA national statistical categories - first in defensive rebounds per game (11.0), fourth in rebounds per game (13.7) and is tied for second with six double-doubles.
Ellis, a native of Greenville, S.C., helped lead AU to four wins in November, including three straight victories to open the Trojans' home slate. He leads the Trojans and ranks fourth in the SAC with his 19.7 points per game and 86.7 percent free throw accuracy. Ellis has drawn a starting nod in all seven games and has reached double-figure scoring in all seven contests, including a season-high 32 points in the decisive win over Tusculum.
The 6-foot-3 guard has averaged more than 24 points per game over the last three outings on the strength of 28-of-47 (59.6 percent) shooting from the field and has connected on 13-of-16 free throws over that span, while dishing out eight assists and swiping eight steals.
Each month, one male and one female student-athlete or teams are honored as the Anderson Federal Credit Union Gold Standard Performers of the Month for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
