Mitter and Joergsholm Named to the AFCU Gold Standard

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University volleyball senior Marissa Mitter and men's soccer freshman Joergsholm have been named to the Anderson Federal Credit Union Gold Standard for their outstanding performances in the month of September.

A two-time All-Conference honoree, Mitter helped the volleyball team get off to a 12-3 overall mark, matching the 2014 squad as one of the best starts in school history. She reached double-figure kills in 12 contests and closed the month by reaching double-figure kills in four straight matches, while owning six double-doubles during September.

Mitter currently leads the conference in kills and is tied for second in kills per set, while ranking fifth with 18 aces. In the road win at Catawba, she became the 11th player in school history to reach 1,000 career kills and wrapped up the month of September by earning her first AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week accolade.

Joergsholm, a native of Farum, Denmark, helped lead the Trojans to four wins in September, as the Trojans earned quality wins over Montevallo, North Georgia, Lander and Coker.

The 6-foot forward led the Trojans with 17 shots, including seven shots on goal during the month. Joergsholm scored four goals in September, including the game-winner with less than two minutes on the clock versus Montevallo to open the season. He also handed out two assists over the nine-match timeframe.

The freshman played a huge role in defeating Peach Belt Conference-opponent Lander, which is currently ranked No. 24 in the nation. During the home win, Joergsholm scored two goals and was credited with the assist that resulted in the game-winning goal.

Each month, one male and one female student-athlete or teams are honored as the Anderson Federal Credit Union Gold Standard Performers of the Month for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
